Laneige Water Sleeping Pack Product Review

'Laneige' means snow in french - isn't that beautiful?
I first discovered Laneige a few years ago in Hong Kong whilst I was looking for some new skin care products. Quite a lot of asians use this brand and trust it so I thought I would try their best selling items to see what the hype was all about.

Laneige is a Korean brand and specialises in skin care for all skin types giving you dewy radiant skin.
Laneige has a speciaility in the study of water crystals, meaning their skin products have been made using the science of water and the results of it for our skin giving us immense results. I was super excited to test this and feel it for myself!

Laneige is huge in Asia, there are independent Laneige stores in a lot of places in Hong Kong, can't imagine how it is in Korea!!

I decided to try the worlds number 1 global best selling night pack, it has been nominated various awards from known magazines such as Elle Beauty 2011.

Light gel-type texture provides intensive hydration, vitality, and brightening effect while restoring skin with deep relaxation - Laneige.com

It promises to:

- Recoverine from Chestnuts promotes turnovers of horny layers to remove dead cells away for vigorous water supply and sleek skin texture.

A good sleep effect allowing sufficient relaxation eventually reinforces skin restoration for healthier skin condition. Essential oils from Orange Flower, Rose, Ylang Ylang, Sandal Wood etc. are contained in the Sleepscent™.

Pro's:

  • great relaxing scent
  • soft cold formula
  • cute packaging
  • formula glides onto skin easily (comes with a spatula but I have lost it now! woops)
  • refreshing scent

Con's:

  •  formula sticky on the skin, it just sits on the skin
  • wake up to sticky skin
  • hard to find to purchase as it is a very popular item from Laneige
  • jar is quite big for travelling
  • not good for the skin during humid weathers

It comes with a spatula (which I have lost) and I scoop it out and place it onto my fresh cleansed face before I sleep. I let the product sink into the skin and slightly melt, then I would gently massage it all over my face, working from the centre, lifting it upwards and outwards.
It has been recomended to absorb the scent of this product for 3 seconds before massaging it to the face, and it is so relaxing. Infact, the scent is quite addictive! It smells abit like fresh linen and flowers, so refreshinggggggggggg!!

There is just one size available for this product, 80ml , suitable for all skin types.

I purchased mine from SaSa for $148hk -  drug store in Hong Kong, it isn't available in all stores but it was the cheapest I found on the market. You can purchase this online too! Shipping would depend on your location.

Main ingredients:

  • Beta Glucan = skin regeneration effect
  • Ceremide SLN = moisture loss protection
  • Hunza apricot extract = skin purification
  • Chestnut extract = improving skin texture
I guess by the sounds of the ingredients, it's all very natural and has major benefits for our skin. I tend to only use this when my skin is in need of emergency TLC, like if I was only to be sleeping for less than 4 hours (which happens from time to time). It's great for when I am resting before another job I have to get to, it makes my skin feel plumped but too sticky which is why I don't use it very often. I seem to use this when I want to smell the scent, but the scent wears off after a minute or two, but by then I would be asleep , kind of defeats the object of using it to be honest!

I have used this when my skin is flawless, breakout-free and still my skin is sticky and the lotion is too watery. When I have used it when my skin is red and have break-outs, it stings and makes it worse so I have stopped using it when I have my bad skin days. I wouldn't recommend this to those who have skin problems, even though this states it is for any skin types, purely because the active ingredients in this sleeping pack does not benefit your skin problems. You need to address the problems before layering it with anything, it won't give the effect that it is suppose to.
I used this in Asia when my skin is dehydrated from the humidity to test out how moisturising it can make my skin, it only worked for me sometimes, not all the time which is why I stopped taking it with me to Asia. It's more suitable for cooler climates like England but that's just me personally. It might work for someone else but this is what happened to me.

It seems it is more of a product to use when you are massaging our face because of how it should be applied, by relaxing and massaging into the skin muscles to let it sink. I enjoy massaging my face, even better when someone does it for me but for those of you who don't do that sort of thing, you wont see the benefits of this product as much.

Sadly, I don't like this product as much as I thought I would but I am happy I got to try this! I enjoy using Laneige products but this one let me down.

Graisset Liquid Eyeliner Product Review*

Thanking Graisset for this amazing opportunity to review another one of their products!
I have also had a previous opportunity to review one of their skin care ranges, Graisset Repair Moisture Range back in winter-spring this year.
Graisset is very exclusive to buy outside of Korea due to the Korean law and you cannot buy from a seller unless they hold a licence and have permission from the company, therefore I was very greatful to have this opportunity.

I first discovered Graisset last year as one of my best friends was using one of their skin care collections, after seeing how pretty the packaging was, I was intregued by their collections.
I was contacted by a legit Graisset seller in Hong Kong to review this eyeliner.

I must admit, I don't wear eyeliner anymore, I use to line my waterline and my upper lash line to create the illusion of thicker top lashes but now that my lashes are longer, I decided to stop using the eyeliners.

There are 2 things I look for in an eyeliner, first would be the darkness/pigmentation of the colour, and secondly would be how long it would last for on my eyes. I sometimes would use the liners to create tattoos on my body or create 'beauty spots' which change my look dramatically!

We all use eyeliners in differently ways, I like to make good use out of mine.
You can do a lot of art work with eyeliners, crazy but true! I love creating tattoos with templates and liquid eyeliners.
Just by using a liquid eyeliner, you can create different looks on your eyes

The box presentation is very neat and high-end feel, a real gift idea for someone who likes make up whether they use it often or not.
Bronzey-gold colour cardboard type box neatly presented, I was very intregued to see what the product would look like!

The text on the box is in Korean, which is very exclusive for the beauty market outside of Korea.

This is priced at $168hk

Isn't this beautiful?
I love the gem at the top of the lid and the gold colour tube. It's not often you see luxurious packaging for an eyeliner! Especially in England!!

It weights 5g/018oz of product.
I have mine in black.

I like the shape of the top half of the bottle, it's non slippery smooth golden coloured casing helps me to precise my line. This is very important to me as I hate re-applying and wasting time on clearing up messed up marks and causing redness to my eyelids. Does anyone else have that problem?

can create thick or thin lines

I used the liquid eyeliner on the top lines only, and as you can see I have created a slight thick cat liner and applied eyeshadow on the bottom and outter corners of my eye to create a dramatic effect.

I love how I can create the sharp defined look on my eyes, usually I find the liquid liners to smudge and consistency too wet to set, then when I blink, it smudges and sets!!

Pro's:

  • can create lines as thick or thin as you want
  • intense black
  • beautiful packaging and box also - ideal for gift

Con's:

  • not waterproof
  • can smudge, takes a while to dry
  • slight scent (but not strong enough to smell it once it is applied to the skin)
  • exclusive product and brand, can only buy from certain Korean stores or Korean cosmetic high end beauty stores in Asia
  • unavailable to buy in England

Thank You Graisset for the product to review! It's been a wonderful and kind gesture for me to use and share my honest opinion.

You can pay via paypal if you live outside of Hong Kong, shipping will be arranged from the seller.

Fashion Friday: Big Framed Glasses

Tired of people staring at your puffy, dark, tired eyes? You can minimise this and stop people from telling you how tired your eyes look!
I don't often have dark circles around my eyes but when I do, wearing less make up on the eyes is definatly better than wearing more make up on the eye area because it doesn't become more noticeable and damaging to the eyes. Wearing more make up on the eyes when you are tired can actually make it look far worse than it actually is! Of course, the first thing we initially want to do is to apply more make up on the eyes to try hide the dark circles or the puffiness, but it does your eyes no favours!! It can cause infections and irritation, which can be hard to treat!

I wear big frames glasses to eliminate my tired eyes, it's also for the purpose of a fashion accessory which is a bonus as it completes my outfit for the day.
I have 3 pairs in total, 2 are non perscription ones , and one other is my perscription glasses for reading - I have been wearing glasses since I was a young teenager. No one really knows because I use to hate wearing glasses but now I make them look like a fashion accessory!! LOLZ.

Big frames glasses can accentuate the look of the day, they say the highest point of a women is the eyes - so make it stand out!

You can chose different shapes, styles, colours and textures of these fashion accessories, I love my black simple ones and also my leopard print ones as it's one of my favourite animal prints!

I wear my glasses with and also without the lens, it doesn't really matter. Sometimes my long eyelashes would scratch the lens so I have to clean them often or take out the lens.

There are a lot of celebrities who wear the big framed glasses on a lazy day, I wear it at times when I dont wear make up and just a pop of colour to the lips can make the look natural and girly!

You can dress up or dress down with these, add abit of funky style by hanging them on the top of your hair or on your collar of your top. I like to wear mine on the top of my hair to hold my hair back as it's long. I think it looks super cool as an effortless look!

I prefer to wear bigger framed glasses as I like to see through them without seeing the frame half way through each lens! It's annoying! Don't know if that's just my preference though?

I wear my big framed glasses all year round, I try avoid wearing them in the summer time as I don't want tan lines, having tan lines on my face is the last thing I want! Don't forget to wear your SPF!!

Applying a primer before your make up can help prevent your make up from smudging when you wear glasses.

Have fun!

Biore Make Up Remover Product Review

I came across this in Watson's (drug store, equivalent to Boots in UK) when I was in Hong Kong back in Nov/Dec 2012 and I was looking for a make up remover during my stay.

I wasn't looking for a huge bottle of product, I just wanted it to last me for my few weeks of stay. That way, I have no commitment to taking it all the way back to UK with me and if I was to go to stay somewhere in Hong Kong, it won't be a hassle for me to carry around with me so I needed something that was not going to weigh a tonne!

It came with a freebie, which was a yellow headband to use whilst you take off your make up, I am still using it now and I love it!! We all love freebies every now and then don't we?

For less than £6, there is 100ml of product to use.
This is made in Japan so I am guessing it is a japanese edition from the Biore range? It is quite difficult ot get hold of therefore they stock this in some SaSa drug stores and in big Watson's drugstore.

The product comes out via a pump function at the top of the bottom.
You can see that the pump is drawn upward inside the bottle so when it is finished, the inside of the bottle is empty. (You can see I have used half of this bottle already).

Just one pump can give out enough of the product to wipe on the whole face. It is measured quite accurately but if you require less, you can still do half a pump if you wish. For me, I use less than a full pump as I only tend to wear mascara and fill in my eyebrows.
For those who use foundation, bronzer etc, then a full pump is recommended.

The part that attracted me to buying this was not only the useful freebie, but this indicator located at the side of the bottle.
There is a clear window which can indicate when you are nearly finished with the product. It states in chinese/english that when the clear indicator turns white, then there is 10 pumps of the product remaining. I loved how clever this idea was and atleast I can prepare to buy another make up remover before it runs out completely!!

Not many products out there have this function and I thought this was very unique!

This is what the product looks like, it is a thick gel, clear in colour and this is just less than 1 full pump of the product so you can see how much I use each night.

There is a scent to this, it smells quite strong of aloe vera/tea which smells great but if you are not a fan of heavy scents then you may not like this!

The gel comes out cold-like and dissolves the make up on the face as soon as you put it on.

For me, I infuse it onto a piece of cotton pad, then I dab it on top of my eyes, lay the cotton pad over the eyes and tap it slightly so the product melts the make up, and then I leave it on for about 30 seconds before I take any of it off. This allows the make up to melt onto the cotton pad effectively and there is no use of heavy rubbing onto my eyes as it is a very sensitive area on the face. It's very easy to damage the tissues around the eye areas when you take make up off so ensuring you take great care to take off the eye make up as safely as possible is vital! Especially if you don't want to have fine lines/wrinkles so soon!

It promises to:

  • lift off and dissolve waterproof make up, foundation, lipstick and facial dirt from pores
  • cleanse the face without greasy feeling and no double cleansing is required
  • contains a moisturising agent that leaves the skin supple and no tight feeling
IT is recommended to use 2 pumps each time but I think that this is too much. I use half a pump each time and it doesn't make my skin feel comfortable so imagine using 2 whole pumps?!?!

For me, only half of the promise is true on my face. I wear waterproof mascara every single day, this does remove the waterproof mascara but not all. It also does not remove my lip liner well , there is still colour on my lips after my shower so I Have to use a cleansing oil to completely remove the traces of my make up.
When I put this on my face, it feels cool which is a nice feeling but it feels so thick, it doesn't make me feel like it sinks into the skin, instead, it sits on the surface of my skin. I always wash it off with cleansing oil, then cleanse and tone.
It doesn't dry out my skin at all, but it doesn't make it feel fully moisturised afterwards either. It makes the skin feel supple yes, but not in a good way, it just sits on the surface of my skin and the scent is so strong it doesn't secure me to think it has worked deep into my pores.

Pro's:

  • removes a good amount of my waterproof make up
  • has an indicator on the side of the bottle when I am almost finished using the bottle of product
  • reasonable price to last me for atleast 3 months of using it every day
  • has a pump to infuse the product out
  • can pump half each time
  • gel is clear, not infused with bits of chemical
  • there are english and chinese instructions
Con's:

  • not available in UK
  • not available in all drug stores in HK
  • heavy scent
  • sits on the skin, not work deep into the pores
I have had this product in my eyes a few times and it stings, my eyes stay red for a while and become very sore so becareful as the gel is quite watery when it sets on the face and it can melt into the eyes, especially when you use it to get rid of your eye make up.

I wouldn't buy this product again due to the problems it has given me but I am grateful I found this and tried it!

Pond's Intense Moisture Cleansing Foam Product Review

The first time I ever tried a Pond's product was 2 years ago when I was in Hong Kong. I needed a cleanser so I popped into my favourite drug store in Hong Kong SaSa to buy a bunch of skin care that I needed during my stay there. I usually buy anything which will last me for the whole duration of my holiday, nothing too pricey and something that doesnt weigh a lot incase I end up staying over at my friends or family's place. I dont like heavy or bulky packaging, it makes the bathroom look so busy and it's annoying so I try to keep it as simple as possible.

Looking at this bottle, its clear liquid inside, for 165ml of the product at just $54hk , its a real bargain!
The simple packaging and light container really did make me curious. There were different types to suit different types of skin but for me, the intense moisture one was the most suitable for me as my skin was slightly dehydrated due to the humidity in Hong Kong!

It claims to:

  •  Formulated with mild formula and
  • wonderfully moisturise the skin
  •  deeply nourish and plump the skin
  •  skin emerges infinitely regenerated. Your skin can be renewed, refined, resilient and radiant upon using it.

I couldn't wait to take it home to use it!! It sounded so perfect for what I needed and for such a good bargain price I couldn't refuse to buy it!!

My most favourite part of this product is the foam! yes - the foam!! The cleanser comes out from the pump which is situated at the top of the bottle, and it comes out like a foam!
What I have in my hand is just 1 pump of the cleanser! A little goes a long way!

The foamy cleanser sits nicely on my skin, so soft and I love using it in the cold winter season as my skin is super sensitive and it doesnt irritate it. Infact, it loves my skin even more at those kind of seasons!!

One bottle lasts me for atleast 3 months when I use it day and night which means I am spending less than $20hk per month day and night!! BARGAIN!

I also purchased another bottle in the same collection but for whitening as I like to use whitening products during the winter to lighten my dark spots or scars and prepare for when my skin starts tanning again. I use to suffer with oily skin and therefore had lots of spots/pimples, and of course - I use to pick them !! Which has now resulted into scars!! It's just one of those ' I wish I didn't do that' phase....

To be honest, when I used this whitening one, I didn't see any huge whitening effects, I used this with some skin whitening face masks and I could see some slight difference in colour but nothing too dramatic, but that could possibly be because I was also using other skin whitening products with this cleanser.

There is also a foamy effect from the pump for this product!

Pro's:

  • I love the soft gentle cleanser rich foam
  • each bottle lasts for a while
  • affordable drug store product
  • smells nice
  •  not too heavy to carry
  • simple packaging
  • gentle for my extra dry and sensitive skin in the winter season

Con's:

  • unable to buy from UK but there are other Pond's products available in UK
  • does make my skin feel dehydrated after using it sometimes
  • does not melt make up effectively therefore I advice to use a make up remover before using this cleanser
This is one of my most enjoyable cleansers I have ever used in my life - even though it does not always give my skin the right amount of moisture! I am so glad I found this and I buy a few bottles when I go back to Hong Kong! I highly recommend this for beauty junkie lovers!
