Tony Moly Syn-ake Venom Face Mask Review

Syn-ake Venom facial masks are very popular in Korea due to it's award winning anti-wrinkle compound based on 'syn-ake peptide' which is similar to the venom of Temple Viper Snake. This compound works in a manner similar to Botox to relax tight skin muscles that create wrinkles.

Facial wrinkles accumulate after years of activity by the 60 muscles you use to smile, frown and form all your other facial expressions. As the muscles grow stronger they pull your skin together into folds the way drapes gather along a curtain rod. Syn-Ake, and the better known Botox, reversibly relax those muscles by paralyzing them. While this allows your skin to lay smoother, it also takes away much of your ability to form facial expressions. It is claimed that alto of celebrities use these products, including Victoria Beckham, Cheryl Cole, Kate Moss.

It may sound scary but it is definitely a luxury beauty product! With it's huge sell out in Asia, it is not easy to get hold of these.
I have tried a few different brands, including ones from SaSa, skin chemists, but my favourite is this Tony Moly one. ( They also do a snail slime one) . There are variou products/brands out there who claim to have syn-ake peptide in their products but which ones really work? I suggest this face mask from Tony Moly.

It claims to:
  • firm the skin
  • improve anti-ageing
  • enhance skin hydration
  • improve the skins elasticity
  • smooth skin and reduce wrinkles by inhibiting muscle contraction
  • intensely repairs skin after one treatment

how to use:

after cleansed and toned skin, apply this to the face. Leave it on the face for about 15-20 minutes, gently remove it and massage the liquid into the face to let the substance absorb into the skin.
Recommended to use twice a week.

Inside the thick plastic-like packaging, there are several sheets.

2 sheets for the face and 2 sheets of see-through plastic to protect each face mask. Hence why each packet weights 25g/0.88oz!!

As you can see, the mask itself has a delicate texture to it.
The material is thick, weighs abit heavier than the ordinary face mask sheets I am use to using, but it hugs onto the skin tight making sure the substance is stuck onto the skin.

There are 2 sheets , one for the top half of the face (forehead to nose) and one for the lower part of the face.

The one I have on here is for the lower park of the face.

The size is quite generous.

Leave it to set 15-20 minutes, let the magic begin!

This does have abit of a smell to it, but it isnt too strong.

Pro's:

  • can see the skin is uplifted and hydrated after one use
  • professional looking packaging

Con's:

  • can be pricey - but worth the money to see great results!
  • the material can rip if its not handles delicately
  • packaging is quite heavy if you are carrying more than a few in your bag

Ta-Da this is the result of my skin after it was taken off!

I have been using this face mask for the last 3 months, of a weekly basis and love the results!
To have great skin, you must learn to understand what to use on it and be patient.

These can be purchased from Korea or ebay! They can retail from about £20 per sheet.

  1. I buy these from YesStyle.co.uk. They are about £7 a sheet but I buy quite a lot of stuff from there so now they cost me less than £4.
