Yauatcha desserts

This week I am on annual leave so I have decided to do some travelling/visiting,

Love travelling and I love meeting new people!

I met up with one of my good friends, Gisela. We met a few years ago from a beauty pageant we both got entered into and since then, we been foodie buddies! 

Today we planned to meet up, have a catch up and try out some good desserts in London and site see basically!

We had a few choices of places to eat for dessert and I really wanted to go try Yauatcha in Soho, London.
Yauatcha is available in London or India.

I was very drawn to the presentation of the desserts in the window and have been ever since I walked past it 2 years ago. Finally today I get to try it with someone who also loves trying new things!

We decided to order 3 desserts between us (plus a bottle of still water) as we had just had brunch at the time so this was dessert for us.

Yauatcha is a 1* Michelin restaurant specialising in Chinese dim sums and their desserts. We decided to just have desserts and no dim sums.

The location was in a square on Soho, google map on the mobile helped us to find the restaurant! 

We got there at 11:40am but like any other Chinese restaurants, they open at 12. So we decided to go look for sushi first thing and then go for dessert afterwards.

The staff were kind to offer us to sit upstairs or downstairs and even let us go downstairs to chose. We chose to sit upstairs as we could see the a window display of desserts.

We were handed out the neatly presented menu's and offered water to start with. In typical Chinese restaurants it would be the Chinese tea but I guess water is the safest option for everyone.

No pictures so we didn't really know which dessert was which. I automatically was drawn to this red rose shaped one so I knew that, no matter what it is - I had to try it. 

My friend went out to the window to chose the dessert. Meanwhile the waiter took away out sauce dips as we informed him we were just wanting desserts.

Overall the experience was good as the desserts were tasty but the customer service wasn't great , I expected more smiles and friendly service for a 2* restaurant in the middle of London.

Wasn't too sure if it was because we said we were only going for desserts and not dim sums or because of the fact we asked for the sauces to be taken away? 

Anyhow, there was only 1 member of staff that was friendly out of about 4 who acknowledged us during our stay.

I would go there again to try the dim sum as well as the desserts again - I think it's a wonderful restaurant in terms of taste and presentation of the food.
I hope the staff would be more approachable and more friendly the next time I visit!
